Back in the day when I finally got around to knowing about and wanting a Surefire flashlight, I wanted the original G2L. By that time however, Surefire had migrated away from Nitrolon construction to the more traditional aluminum construction. What I ultimately ended up with was a 6P LED which I still use today.

The opportunity to own a Nitrolon flashlight from Surefire has returned thanks to their introduction of the new G2X flashlights including the Tactical and Pro models.

We’ll focus here on the G2X Tactical as it is the most similar to the Surefire lights of the past which featured a single output. With the proliferation of  flashlight brands on the market it’s not uncommon to see lights with a number of settings/outputs you need more than one hand to count.

These lists of setting/outputs make for great advertising but in a stressful situation is that 5 lumen reading setting really going to help? Three more clicks to the high setting you were hoping for and it’s too late.

The G2X Tactical keeps it simple with a single 200 Lumen output and runs off a pair of 123A batteries (Lithium please). Your options come in the way of color choices including tan, foliage green, yellow and of course, black.
