it’s a mystery
I’m never sure when they’ll pop up but when they do it’s worth mentioning. If there’s a rhyme or reason as to when they pop up then again, it’s a mystery to me. Either way, you get what you get.
It’s Sunday June 22, 2014 and I’m looking at the “IN STOCK” icon lit up for the LA Police Gear S.O.S. Mystery Bag. This is at least the third time I’ve seen this promotion going and after the first round it was tweaked a bit.
Even at just $9.99 a piece, it seems customers had some pretty high expectations and weren’t happy ordering multiple bags (say two) and getting the same items in each bag. Since then, a method was devised to make this less likely.
LAPG even went so far as to guarantee that you will get AT LEAST $10 worth of gear in your Mystery Bag. So no matter what, you will get your money’s worth. Still, if you look at the reviews, plenty of hurt butts.
What’s the potential upside you ask? Well, we have scattered some pretty amazing items throughout these mystery bags, including an Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic – $462 value), THREE Suunto Core Watches ($299 value), several flashlights including both the Operator L1 and L2 high output lights, assorted folding knives & tools from Leatherman and Ka-Bar, some American Flag Hats, a few Streamlight TLR-1S Weaponlights, and much more.
Clearly it would be pretty epic to get a bag with one of those items inside but again, the odds are against it. Still, if you have a sense of adventure and a realistic about what might arrive in your S.O.S. Mystery Bag you should do well.
In summary, if all you order is an S.O.S. Mystery Bag or two that’s fine. If you do so and then sit around with your fingers crossed until it arrives and are then disappointed in the gear, don’t come crying to us. I suggest you throw one in with the rest of your order just for the heck of it, then you’ll at least know you’re getting something you wanted. If the Mystery Bag gamble pays off then all the better.
